Mac DeMarco announces new album Here Comes The Cowboy

Here Comes The Cowboy, which promises to be the Canadian musician’s fourth full length studio effort, is set for release on Friday 10 May, and will be the debut release on DeMarco’s newly minted independent record label (aptly titled Mac’s Label).

In a statement released today, DeMarco affirms that Here Comes The Cowboy will in fact be a cowboy record, however, whether or not it boasts a significant influence from Country-Western music is yet to be confirmed. It also comes with a deceptively minimal album cover, which fans have noted has been teased by DeMarco on his Instagram for months now.

This one is my cowboy record,” DeMarco says. “Cowboy is a term of endearment to me, I use it often when referring to people in my life. When I grew up, there are many people that sincerely wear cowboy hats and do cowboy activities. These aren’t the people I’m referring to.”

DeMarco has also released the first single from Here Comes The Cowboy, a blissed-out, kick back chiller called ‘Nobody.’ It’s accompanied by a pretty whacky video, which sees DeMarco dressed up as some kind of reptilian-cowboy-hybrid creature. We really don’t know what to think about this one: check it out below.

Recently, Mac DeMarco was announced to be heading out on the road with Anderson .Paak, Noname, Thundercat and Earl Sweatshirt.
