A couple of weeks ago we looked at single string capos, a product we came across that presented a very unique solution to a problem plenty of us have encountered, but more importantly, it opened up new possibilities for the musician to explore new and exciting musical avenues.
This week we’ve found a similarly ingenius product. As reported on Musicradar The Pitch Key is a small metallic key that’s able to change the key of your guitar with a single twist of a knob. It’s designed to be fixed to the guitar just above the nut and tightens or loosens the string to perfectly bring it between two alternate tunings when engaged.
It’s not an entirely new concept. Guitars and basses have been modified with this type of technology for years, but the pitch key is an accurate, portable and removable alternative. It’s certainly something we can see becoming commonplace for guitarists that like shifting key mid song.
As far as we can tell, the pitch key is in it’s infancy as a product. It seems to be available for purchase in the UK, but isn’t yet freely distributed throughout Australia. For more information about it head to www.pitch-key.com.
