Leonard Cohen documentary teased in new trailer

Directed by Nick Broomfield, formerly of ‘Whitney: Can I Be Me’ and ‘Kurt & Courtney’, the film will focus on the pair’s life in a bohemian community after first meeting in Greece in 1960.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and features unseen footage captured by both Broomfield and documentarian D.A Pennebaker, whose body of work earned him an Academic Honorary Award or ‘lifetime Oscar’ from AMPAS in 2013.

The film is due out in cinemas in the US on July 5.

Meanwhile, Cohen’s son is currently working on an album of unfinished songs to honour the artist who passed away in late 2016.

Adam Cohen says the album “resembles his [father’s] older work, something more romantic”, and a release date has not yet been announced.
