The Kinks guitarist Dave Davies' iconic 1958 Gibson Flying V is headed for the auction block later this year.
Purchased on a 1965 tour, used to record 'Till The End Of The Day,' and played by Davies on the TV show Shindig, he owned the guitar until 1992. Davies is infamous for playing the Flying V between it's wings, which you can see in the video below.
The Flying V is due to be sold on 21 May by Heratige Auctions. It was last sold in 1995 for $33,150, and is expected to have greatly increased in value this time around. The listing notes that the korina-bodied Gibson has been refinished and features a repaired heel crack and broken Gibson logo. Everything else is otherwise original, including the PAF humbuckers.
