John Williams to retire from composing Star Wars films

Williams has composed the score for eight Star Wars films and has seen his work become synonymous with the 41-year-old franchise. While he is set to compose for J. J. Abrams’ 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX, Williams confessed to California radio station KUSC that it’s likely to be his last.

“We know JJ Abrams is preparing one now that I will hopefully do next year for him,” Williams said. “I look forward it. It will round out a series of nine. That will be quite enough for me.”
