Melbourne-based independent record label Our Golden Friend Records has today announced a label partnership with the Universal Music Australia label Island Records Australia - home to artists like Andy Bull, Boy & Bear, Chance Waters, Clare Bowditch, Gin Wigmore & Havana Brown.
Run by former Promotions and Marketing Manager at Remote Control Records Lorrae McKenna, Our Golden Friend hosts a management roster with artists Jade Imagine, Jess Riberio, RVG, Totally Mild and Poppongene. Alongside the announcement comes news of Melbourne four piece RVG becoming the label’s first signing. Recently joining the lineups for Meredith Music Festival and Bigsound, Our Golden Friend will re-release RVG’s self-released debut LP A Quality Of Mercy.
While at Remote Control, McKenna was instrumental in re-invigorating the label’s Australian roster of artists, signing and developing acts many prominent acts - including Courtney Barnett, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Methyl Ethel and The Murlocs. McKenna departed Remote Control in October 2016 and has since focused on building Our Golden Friend.
“I am super excited about the new Our Golden Friend partnership with Island Records/UMA,” McKenna says. “It’s a beautiful collaboration of two different world’s colliding and I feel that I have a huge opportunity to help the artists I love, to work and grow and reach larger audiences."
