The announcement comes with the confirmation that both Tyler The Creator and The Strokes will be pushing forward with their own headline appearances at next year’s festival, with Gorillaz set to replace Flume’s headlining slot on Friday July 23, 2021.
Gorillaz have been drumming up the hype throughout 2020 with their well-received Song Machine series, which has seen Damon Albarn and co. linking up with the likes of Peter Hook, Tony Allen, Skepta, Slowthai, Georgia and Octavian on a series of collaborative tracks.
Splendour’s organisers have also mentioned that they’ll be releasing the full lineup for this year’s rescheduled event early next year, with all tickets purchased for the 2020 festival remaining valid for next year’s event.
