Fender introduces new signature model for Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea

Co-designed with Flea himself, the new bass strives to “match his boundless enthusiasm when performing in front of stadium-sized crowds.” It features a custom-crafted body with a satin urethane finish, a quartersawn neck, and a HiMass bridge.

Elsewhere, bucketloads of power are on offer through a Tim Shaw-designed humbucking pickup and an Aguilar OBP-1 18V preamp to deliver up to +18dB of boost.

“It’s really got the best of both worlds,” said Flea. “It’s a workhorse. You can beat the shit out of it, and it still rocks. But you can also articulate in a light and bouncy way, in a fast and vicious way or in a slow and warm way. You hear every note crystal clear, but it still has the warmth and the love of old Fender basses.”
