Tell us about the history of Eastern Suburbs School of Music.

ESSM has given instrumental music lessons in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne for over 30 years to students of all ages, from beginners to advanced musicians.

For which instruments do you offer tuition?

Lessons are available on guitar, piano/keyboard, drums, singing, violin, bass, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, cello, flute, and our Rock Band Workshop program in which students attend a coached band rehearsal each weekend.

How is your approach to teaching different to other music schools?

Our lessons aim to provide the best half hour of fun our students have in their week.

What experience do your teachers bring to lessons?

The depth of knowledge our teachers have allows them to cater to student’s interests. Our 26 teachers have a wide variety of experience as performers on local, national, and international stages. Our teachers are full-time musicians through working as teachers in primary and secondary schools, for our music school, and as performers. Many hold tertiary qualifications and have completed music exams to the highest grades.

What makes Eastern Suburbs School of Music stand out?

The opportunities available to our students , from simply taking lessons as a weekly hobby, to studying for exams, to performances at ESSM events or in the local community.
