Dexter Holland from The Offspring completes PHD in molecular biology

Pretty Fly For A Molecular Biologist

Bryan 'Dexter' Holland, the frontman of 90's punk band The Offspring, has received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California after completing a 175-page dissertation on HIV research.

Titled Discovery of Mature MicroRNASequences within the Protein-Coding Regions of Global HIV-1 Genomes: Predictions of Novel Mechanisms for Viral Infection and Pathogenicity, Holland's dissertation states that a cure for HIV is achievable, and the singer plans to continue his research and publish more writing in the field over the next few years.

But first, Doctor Dexter will be playing shows around the world until the end of September with The Offspring.
