Danelectro Introduces Four New Models

The Danelectro ’64 is inspired by the Mosrite guitars of the 1960s, and features a solid agathis body, licensed Bigsby vibrato, vintage-style single coil pickup in the neck and a Lipstick humbucker in the bridge.

The other electric guitar announced was the ‘59M Spruce, which was based on the ’59 double-cut guitars favoured by Jimmy Page. With a spruce soundboard and offset soundhole, it has some different features to the original, but otherwise it pretty much sticks to tradition with a pair of Lipstick single coils and an intonatable wraparound bridge.

Perhaps the most interesting guitar in this announcement is the new resonating guitar. It has a similar shape to the ‘59M Spruce, and is itself based on the ’59 Shorthorn. It has the ability to be played acoustically, with the piezo pickup in the cone, with the ’56 Lipstick pickup in the neck, or with a blend of both the pickups, giving a fair amount of versatility to the player.

The only bass introduced in this lot was the ‘59DC Long Scale Bass, with classic Danelectro tones on board paired with a 34” scale neck. Along with everything else in the announcement, it also features high-output Lipstick pickups.
