Crowded House, Patti Smith, Dave Matthews Band + more announced for Bluesfest 2020

The festival, which enters its 31st year running in 2020, is set to take place over the Easter long weekend from April 9 – 13 at its longstanding home up in Byron Bay.

Sitting atop of the bill is alternative hero Patti Smith, who’ll be returning after performing one of 2017’s most memorable Bluesfest sets with her band. Although her last visit down under was supposed to be her final Australian tour, it seems Bluesfest have really pulled some magic tricks to get the rock legend back for 2020. She’ll be joined by fellow international festival mainstays Dave Matthews Band, as well as Crowded House, with Neil Finn taking time away from Fleetwood Mac to give his beloved ’80s group another fling.

Other notable inclusions on the lineup are jazz giant George Benson, who’ll be making his Bluesfest debut in 2020, as well as Brandie Carlile, John Butler, Xavier Rudd, The Cat Empire and Larkin Poe. There’s also a fair amount of traditional blues shredders including John Mayall, Walter Trout and young up-and-comer Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, as well as Frank Turner, Jenny Lewis, Buffy Sainte-marie and Morcheeba.
