COUNTDOWN RETURNING TO ABC TV

Set to kick off on Sunday September 17 at the program’s original timeslot of 6pm, Classic Countdown will run for a span of 13 episodes, with each episode revisiting a year from the show’s run of 1974-1987.

Classic Countdown will see the ABC open up their archives to air both long-forgotten and classic moments from the show, as well as digitally restored footage and narration from artists who performed on select episodes, such as Kate Cebrano, Richard Clapton and more – as well as plenty of highlights from iconic host Molly Meldrum.

Mirroring the original format of the show, Classic Countdown will also feature classic highlights and performances of hit singles, with original announcer Gavin Wood to return to his position behind the mic. If you’re looking for a bit of classic Australian musical nostalgia, it really doesn’t get much better than this.
