Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ debuts at number one

Donald Glover's First Number One Debut

‘This Is America’, Childish Gambino’s new single that’s been a major talking point since its release last week, has officially debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

The track is the first of Donald Glover’s songs to debut at number one, and has knocked Drake off the top of the chart where he’s held the place for 15 weeks with ‘God’s Plan’ followed by ‘What’. Glover’s song arrived complete with a confronting, socially-conscious video that has sparked much conversation in its wake, even inspiring articles and videos decoding the references spread throughout the short film.

‘This Is America’ follows Glover’s 2016 album “Awaken, My Love!”, and rumours are now circulating that this new music could be his last as Childish Gambino. If that’s the case, Glover is certainly likely to finish on a high if ‘This Is America’ is anything to go by.
