After being unveiled back in January at NAMM, Fender have announced the official launch of their two latest American Original models: the '70s Telecaster Custom and '60s Telecaster Thinline.
Here at Mixdown, we're suckers for Telecasters, and there's nothing that catches our eye more than a Thinline Telecaster. Fender have given this newbie a '60s aesthetic with its Sunburst finish and standard pickup configuration, which reminds me a lot of the model favoured by Curtis Mayfield in the late '60s and early '70s. Give it a listen below.
There's also the new American Original '70s Telecaster Custom, which actually features a geniune CuNiFe magnet-powered Wide Range humbucker, just like the original models. It's the first time Fender have used a genuine CuNiFe humbucker in over 40 years, and it sounds incredible - we were totally blown away when we reviewed it recently. Check it out here, and keep your eyes peeled for our review soon.
