ALLEN & HEATH LAUNCHES FIRST iPHONE APP FOR iLIVE

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

ALLEN & HEATH

Allen & Heath has launched iLive Tweak, its first iPhone app, to provide real time mobile control of the iLive digital mixing range. The release
adds yet another option to iLive’s array of remote control possibilities, which includes laptops and touch tablets running iLive Editor control
software, and the PL Series of controllers.

Available to download free of charge from the Apple store, iLive Tweak opens up new control possibilities for iPhone-using sound engineers, enabling
them to remotely browse and select channels on their iLive MixRack, and adjust Levels and Mutes, PEQ, GEQ and Delays.

iLive Tweak is compatible with iLive’s latest software release, v1.7, and runs on the iPhone 3, 3G, 3GS and 4, as well as the new iPad.

“iLive’s flexible architecture has enabled us to pioneer the use of remote control devices instead of the traditional control surface, and our first
foray into iPhone apps is only the start,” explains A&H MD, Glenn Rogers. “iLive Tweak is the perfect tool for engineers to access all the key
functions of the iLive input and mix channels, and we plan to launch several more dynamic apps for other aspects of iLive control.”

DVK TECHNOLOGIES LAUNCH NEW LINE OF DUAL FUNTION EFFECTS PEDALS

Monday, July 19th, 2010

DVK Technologies is an Australian guitar effects pedal company headed up by electronics maestro Craig Paine and SM Pro Audio’s Brett Kingman.

Both blokes play the guitar, Brett professionally. Through the years they have used a veritable ocean liner full of effects and have come to the conclusion that certain effects could be paired for better sonic combinations and to preserve that precious pedal board real estate. We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, just streamline it a little.

Enter the new DVK Technologies range: a suite of models offering 2-in-1 solutions in reasonably sized cases and featuring useful peripherals such as
expression control and circuit order switching. All of our circuits have been (re)designed from the ground up by our illustrious ‘Doc’ (Craig Paine) who has worked for nearly a year with the sonic requests of the slave driving and   annoying Mr Kingman. It should be said that although these are our own circuits, we have drawn our concepts from the best and we are only too willing to acknowledge this. Oh yeah, our own Tony Tran provides the eye candy and we’ll be featuring different themed cases as time goes by.

They decided that they would keep the pedals ‘green’ as well. That means no 9V batteries. For two reasons: firstly because they had jammed so much circuitry into these pedals that they couldn’t possibly fit a battery in there and secondly because batteries are rotten little things filling up our landfills and if we can do without them we will. So they have.

ANTARI HZ400 in THE GOLDEN MILE

Monday, July 19th, 2010

The producers of Underbelly used the HZ400 in the series currently being screened, Underbelly – The Golden Mile. The Antari HZ-400 is capable of producing very large quantities of haze both quickly and quietly, with fine translucence and long hanging time.

It’s a professional product that creates a more pro look compared to standard fog. The fluid lasts considerably longer, one litre per 16 hours or 40 hours from a full tank, and is less likely to set off smoke alarms in venues.

The hazer can be used in ballrooms or theatres where restrictions on fog use may apply, and with silent operation it is well suited for TV, film, theatre or any stage applications.

The specially designed compressor used to disperse the haze is vibration free and operates with virtually no noise. The unit uses a mineral oil-based haze liquid and comes with an HC1 remote, featuring timer with interval, duration adjustment and manual on/off. Great for set and forget operation. Antari HZ400 road cases are also available at a very realistic cost.

AKG DMM 4/2/4 AUTO MIC MIXER

Monday, July 19th, 2010

AKG has announced the newest addition to its range of automatic microphone mixers – the DMM 4/2/4. Designed as a studio version of the DMM 4/2/2, the DMM 4/2/4 utilises a unique and highly effective mixing algorithm that gives it the flexibility to handle nearly any mixing application, from boardrooms to broadcast studios and even houses of worship.

The DMM 4/2/4 offers four microphone inputs and two stereo AUX inputs, intelligent mixing algorithms with a noise sensitive threshold to prevent accidental activation of input channels, and a digital signal processor with a dbx® compressor. Each channel on the processor offers switchable gain, switchable phantom power, and an incremental level control with peak hold display. The auto-mixing and ducking functions can be enabled and disabled for each channel separately.

The mixer comes with an expansion connector that enables multiple mixers to be linked together for larger audio setups. All functions are run through incremental controls on the front panel which use the intuitive central control concept, similar to the DMM 4/2/2. However, while the DMM 4/2/2 has a mono output, the DMM 4/2/4 features stereo master and recording outputs.

TOA Releases New Infared Wireless Microphone System

Monday, June 21st, 2010

TOA Electronics Inc, a manufacturer of premier commercial audio products, recently unveiled their new Infrared Wireless Microphone System. The new system uses infrared transmission, thereby eliminating the problems associated with RF (VHF/UHF) systems.

Because the infrared signals from the microphone transmitters do not leave the room, several adjoining rooms can run independent systems without risk of interference. This makes the infrared microphone system ideal for educational purposes, conferences or any other situation where multiple systems operate simultaneously in close proximity.

The system can also use an optional 4-way distributor, the IR-700D, offering the flexibility to expand to four IR receivers, or up to 16 receivers in conjunction with TOA’s YW-1022/1024 distributors. Furthermore, both the Infrared Wireless Microphone System and the Infrared Conference System (TOA’s TS-800 and TS-900 Series IR Conferencing Systems) can be used simultaneously in the same location.

The competitively priced Infrared Wireless Microphone System is available now and is backed by TOA’s three year warranty.

DVK Technologies Launch New Line Of Dual Function Effects Pedals

Monday, June 21st, 2010

DVK Technologies is an Australian guitar effects pedal company headed up by electronics maestro Craig Paine and SM Pro Audio’s Brett Kingman.

Both blokes play the guitar, Brett professionally. Through the years they have used a veritable ocean liner full of effects and have come to the conclusion that certain effects could be paired for better sonic combinations and to preserve that precious pedal board real estate. We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, just streamline it a little.

Enter the new DVK Technologies range: a suite of models offering 2-in-1 solutions in reasonably sized cases and featuring useful peripherals such as expression control and circuit order switching.

Monday, June 21st, 2010

For dealer and sales enquiries please email sales@industrygear.com.au or call 02 9718 4900.

AKG DMM 4/2/4 Auto Mic Mixer

Monday, June 21st, 2010

RRP $3,499

MOTU ZBOX GUITAR IMPEDANCE ADAPTER IS NOW AVAILABLE

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

MOTU’s ZBox is now available though Major Music’s dealer network throughout Australia. ZBox is a guitar pickup adapter that matches the output impedance of a guitar with instrument inputs on audio interfaces or other devices.

Guitar inputs on audio interfaces, mixers, PAs, wireless transmitters and other similar devices (often labelled “instrument”) usually have impedance levels that differ significantly from those typically found on guitar amp inputs. This mismatch can make a guitar sound unnatural (too bright, thin and brittle). In addition, the guitar may not feel right while played through software or DSP-driven amp models.

By providing the proper impedance levels, ZBox restores natural guitar tone that would otherwise be lost through a non-amp input.

ZBox is designed with authentic matching circuits that emulate the two-jack switching network found on many classic amplifiers, complete with analog simulation of the input tube grid. This unique approach delivers the most authentic amplifier impedance matching available for the absolute truest sound and feel from a guitar.

ZBox is simple to use. Just plug a guitar into ZBox’s Lo-Z or Hi-Z input (whichever sounds better), and plug the ZBox’s built-in, 16-inch cable with quarter-inch jack into the guitar input on the destination device (audio interface, wireless box, mixer, recorder, PA, etc.)

ZBox is housed in a small (1 x 1.75 x 2.5), lightweight, virtually indestructible aluminium housing that can be conveniently velcroed or duct-taped to a guitar strap for live performance through a wireless transmitter.

ZBox is not a computer interface and does not require any software drivers. It does not require a power source or extra cables (just the cable from the guitar).

ZBox is available now from Major Music Wholesale Pty Ltd

SHURE SM27 NOW SHIPS WITH SHOCK MOUNT

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Although marketed as a studio microphone the SM27 can handle high SPL – up to 138dB. As a result, like its predecessor the KSM27, this microphone is finding its way more and more onto live stages in front of bass and guitar amps.

The SM27 is a rugged and versatile large-diaphragm, side-address cardioid condenser microphone, designed to pick up the nuances of vocals and instruments with clarity. This microphone has a one-inch ultra-thin Mylar diaphragm for superior transient response, exceptional low frequency reproduction, and a low self-noise (just 9.5 dB SPL) to reveal fine detail when recording or during live performance.

The SM27 offers lower self-noise and improved dynamic range specifications over the KSM27 model that it replaces. Its durable Shure construction features three separate mesh layers that reduce wind and breath noise, making it equally comfortable on stage or in the studio. It is now available in a newly configured SKU that includes a rubber suspension shock mount ideal for isolating stand vibrations in recording applications, and an enclosed velveteen storage pouch that protects the microphone when not in use.
