Aydin Sayar and Montogomery’s top five saucy duets

Produced alongside Gab Strum of Japanese Wallpaper fame, ‘Missed Calls’ sees Sayar team up with fellow Melbourne indie stalwart Montgomery for a dazzling duet about forgotten flings and dicey endings. Underscored by a muted bed of synths and driven by an unsuspectingly groovy bass line, ‘Missed Calls’ is a gleaming track that showcases Montgomery and Sayar’s knack for texture and melody and hints at what the future might bring for both emerging artists.

With ‘Missed Calls’ out now, we asked for Aydin and Sayar to take us through their five favourite duets – strap yourself in and get ready for the cheese.

’Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around’ – Stevie Nicks ft. Tom Petty

Aydin: “I actually heard a cover of this on Rockwiz, and immediately fell in love with it. I love the raw vocals of both Stevie and Tom – plus, I’m also a major sucker for dramatic classic rock guitar solos.”

‘The Moon Song’ – Karen O & Ezra Koenig

Montgomery: “This one takes me somewhere I never want to come back from every time I listen to it.”

‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers’ – Neil Diamond ft. Barbara Streisand

Aydin: “Seriously, who doesn’t love a ballad? I have grown with Neil being played at every single Christmas – my grandfather is a massive fan. This beautiful piece consists of the soaring vocals of Barbara as well, which really just makes it a 10/10 to me.”

‘Opposites Attract’ – Paula Abdul & MC Skat Kat

Montgomery: “Maybe it’s not technically a duet (justice for MC Skat Kat), but Paula Adbul and that cartoon cat go hard in ‘Opposites Attract’. I’m sure if Melbourne wasn’t in a stage four lockdown, Aydin would agree to recreate this video for ‘Missed Calls’.”

Don’t You Want Me – The Human League

Aydin: “This is just a perfect song. It’s an ’80s cranker. Everyone loves this gem and if you don’t, you are bloody missing out.”
