Arctic Monkeys announce vinyl reissue of debut album

Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not will be pressed on 180 gram smoke vinyl in reference to the cover of the 2006 LP, and will include a 16-page lyric booklet. Cameron Schaefer, Head of Music at Vinyl Me, Please, said the company feels “really honoured” to be reissuing the album.

“This is an album that’s also a coming-of-age Internet story; this was an album that went from the teens and Internet kids finding this and loving it, and then that filtering up to record labels and music journalists,” said Schaefer. “…it’s a major album and a piece of music history. I know the debate, especially with our forums, is “Is this really essential?”, and this one couldn’t be clearer: if you’re a fan of rock music in the 2000s, it is absolutely an essential album.”
