Interpol and Bloc Party announce co-headline tour for November

Bloc Party Interpol

Mention indie to someone who lived through the 2000s and they’d be hard pressed to not mention Bloc Party or Interpol, if not both, in their first sentence.

This makes it all the more exciting that the Bloc Party and Interpol have announced a co-headlining tour of Australia for November.

Interpol haven’t been to Australia since 2019, busy with their new album The Other Side of Make-Believe and the Interpolations that have come after it. Hailing from New York, Interpol are closely associated with the explosion of indie in the early 2000s, along with bands like The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio and The National.

“We are so happy to be hitting the road with our friends Bloc Party in Australia. Come on down!”

From across the pond, Bloc Party are equal stalwarts of the genre, though their own genre-bending catalogue was distinctly British, while also pushing the envelope. In addition to huge hits like “Banquet”, “Helicopter”, “This Modern Love” and “Flux”, Bloc Party released their LP Alpha Games in 2022, and the upcoming release The High Life EP has already offered singles “Keep It Rolling” and “High Life”.

“The histories of Bloc Party and Interpol are intertwined at various stages of our careers. It made perfect sense to us to solidify that by playing some massive shows together in one of our favourite countries on earth. We can’t wait to get back to Australia in November.”

Thursday 16th November will see the bands play the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, followed by the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney and Riverstage in Brisbane on the 18th and 22nd respectively. Tickets go on sale early July.
