INDIE MIX POP CHOIR – INDIE POP CHOIR LEADER (PERTH)

Indie Mix Pop Choir is a new, fun, alternative group singing experience for lovers of pop and indie music. Their repertoire for the upcoming term includes Lorde, Amy Shark, Foo Fighters, Haim, Rag and Bone Man, Lana Del Ray, MØ and more, all arranged in three part harmony for a mixed (male & female) group. They are seeking a dynamic, charismatic singer/pianist to lead a new mixed choir experience performing contemporary indie, alternative, pop and rock music.

 

You will lead choir rehearsals of 50–100 members on a weekly basis, teaching the three vocal parts by repetition, and bringing all three parts together. Backing tracks, vocal and arrangements will be supplied, as will all equipment required to lead rehearsals. Rehearsals take place on weeknights, on a weekly basis, 10 weeks per term over 4 terms per year, in line with school holidays. You will also perform with and lead end of year performances and other performance opportunities.

 

Skills/Experience Required:

  • You live and breathe contemporary independent, alternative, pop and rock music and culture.
  • You have advanced keyboard and vocal skills, with the ability to sing and play keyboard simultaneously.
  • You have experience singing in bands or choir groups throughout your career, with experience leading choirs looked on extremely favourably.
  • You have a certificate or degree in music, musical theatre or performing arts (preferred but not essential).
  • You are outgoing, with great leadership and facilitator skills. You are confident in teaching and leading a large choir group.
  • You have the energy and passion to support and inspire choir members. You put people at ease and bring out the best in them.
  • You have an Australian Driver’s Licence and car.

CMI MUSIC & AUDIO – MARKETING & ADMIN ASSISTANT (MELBOURNE)

Reporting to the marketing manager in what is a multi-faceted role, you will tasked with creating a wide variety of printed and digital assets including:

  • Product catalogues
  • Point-of-sale materials (price tickets, posters, flyers)
  • Trade show and special-event display materials (banners, labels, flyers)
  • Print advertisements for magazines
  • Web and social media banners and ads
  • Monthly B2B print newsletter
  • Product packaging for in-house brands
  • Content maintenance of company websites and online catalogue using HTML editor interfaces (including Bloomtools and WordPress) and some HTML coding
  • Creation of regular EDMs for both B2B and B2C databases using templates in HTML editor interface
  • Liaising with website developer to address technical issues, possible improvements to site’s operation
  • Some periodic administrative tasks including maintenance of electronic product marketing assets; stock maintenance of printer renewables; oversee registration of the company’s various web-domains; proofreading and editing official correspondence

 

Skills Required:

  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of the Adobe CC suite with emphasis on Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • You will have a strong demonstrated knowledge of HTML interfaces and at least some basic knowledge of HTML code

MUSHROOM MUSIC – CREATIVE MANAGER (SYDNEY)

Mushroom Music is the most successful independent music publisher in Australasia. Established in 1972, their repertoire is focused on Australian and New Zealand writers and currently includes Vance Joy, Julia Jacklin, Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker), D.D Dumbo, Gordi, Violent Soho,  The Preatures, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, The Temper Trap, Birds of Tokyo, Bliss n Eso, Jess Kent, The Rubens. This role is an opportunity for you to work with and add to one of Australia’s best rosters of domestic songwriters.  Reporting to the Head of A&R, you will be responsible for sourcing and co-ordinating all co-writing and collaborative opportunities, song pitching and assisting the domestic A&R team. This role requires the ability to work independently, and demands strong creative and administrative skills.

 

You are passionate about Australian music and songwriting. You work well in a team and can effectively communicate despite other team members being in another state. You can recognise a great song and match artists with songs that suit them. You are meticulous in your organisation, record keeping and time management. You are positive and assertive in your dealings with other music industry personnel.

 

Responsibilties Include:

  • Create co-writing opportunities for our songwriters
  • Pitch songs to record labels, managers and other publishers to be recorded by their artists
  • Form relationships with record label A&Rs, managers, other publishers and artists to bring about co-writing and pitching opportunities
  • Proactively use these same relationships to find out who is currently in their writing phase or approaching their writing phase
  • Advise songwriters on how to split copyrights in a co-writing situation
  • Keep and update Excel spreadsheets with detailed co-writing and pitching information and history
  • Source audio and copyright information for completed songs
  • Liaise with internal A&R staff to help facilitate writing opportunities for our domestic songwriters abroad or international songwriters when they are in the country
  • Build spreadsheets and calendars for any fixed period writing trips
  • Create and maintain file storage of songs for pitching
  • Provide administration with information required to register new songs / copyrights
  • Monthly reporting to Head of A&R
  • Attend live shows where relevant in Sydney and meetings at our head office in Melbourne
  • Advise the A&R team of prospective new signings
  • Provide the Sync department with New Release summaries
  • Provide general support for the internal A&R team

 

Skills Required:

  • Experience working within the Australian music industry in a creative role, preferably at music publishers or record labels
  • Existing relationships with other members of the music industry such as labels, publishers, booking agents, managers and artists
  • Demonstrated ability to identify what constitutes a good song, not simply a good recording
  • Highly proactive and capable of a high level of productivity without close supervision

MUSIC VICTORIA – OFFICE & MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR (MELBOURNE)

Contemporary Music Victoria Inc. is an independent, not-for-profit organisation and the state peak body for contemporary music. It represents musicians, venues, music businesses and professionals, and music lovers across the contemporary Victorian music community. Music Victoria provides advocacy on behalf of the music sector, actively supports the development of the Victorian music community, and celebrates and promotes Victorian music.

 

Music Victoria are hiring an Office and Membership Coordinator to provide support to management and be responsible for office administration including front line office support, phone queries and membership queries. The role will require some understanding of the music industry to be able to deal autonomously with regular email and phone inquiries. The role will also provide general administrative support to staff and the Board.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake front of house functions including duties to ensure the efficient operation of the Music Victoria office
  • Maintain the member register and provide a high-quality client membership engagement service that integrates with Music Victoria’s broader activities

This is an exceptionally varied role in which you will be spending your time leading marketing strategies and social media for all key brands including Central Station Records and Sweat It Out amongst several others. You will also be delivering social media and marketing strategies to our key artists. You will be driving creativity and supporting revenue growth through sales and production management. Responsibilties Include:

  • Devising and executing marketing campaigns for all priority label releases including digital and physical marketing, social media activity, management of advertising spends and strategy 
  • Identifying, building and executing strategies to build and galvanise each label’s audience
  • Maintain and manage social media & owned digital channels. Devise content calendars and drive growth – including but not limited to Spotify, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Mailchimp, websites & our newsletters. 
  • Developing, refining and maintaining brand identities within the digital and social media space; ensuring copy and tone is consistent and engaging

  • Extensive knowledge and contacts within Australian music media and related brands/agencies 
  • A proven history of creative campaign development and execution 
  • Experience with executing and managing digital marketing campaigns, including Facebook Power Editor, YouTube Pre-roll campaigns and Google AdWords. 
  • Strong copywriting skills 
  • Experience with managing and driving social media channels and community management (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc) 
  • Thorough understanding of the streaming music landscape and the development of streaming best practices
