Fender Unveil George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix & Justin Meldal-Johnsen Signature Guitars

Following the much-hyped announcement of Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien’s signature Sustainer Strat, Fender have announced a new signature Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster, this time inspired by the hand-painted guitar played at the infamous Monterey Pop Festival 50 years ago.

Sticking to era-correct specs, the Monterey Strat features a soft ‘C’ shaped 7.25” maple neck with 21 vintage style frets and a six screw synchronised tremolo, as well as a distinctive psychedelic paintjob and exclusive etched Hendrix neck plate.

After years of customer demand, Fender have finally caved in and created a George Harrison signature Telecaster, styled after his famous rosewood model built by Roger Rossmeisl in the late 60’s. Featuring an all-rosewood body and matching headstock, the George Harrison signature model is professionally chambered to enhance resonance and reduce the weight of the instrument.

Best known for his works with M83, Nine Inch Nails and Beck, revered session musician Justin Meldal-Johnsen has also been honoured by Fender with a signature model based on his vintage Mustang bass. Featuring a tastefully road-worn Daphne Blue finish, the Meldal-Johnsen Mustang boasts a custom spec split-coil pickup and a 9.5” fingerboard with rolled edges, tucked all into a nifty 30” scale.
